Dead Men Walking are a non-profit making gaming community. We provide our members and guests with a professional forum, powerful professionally hosted gaming servers as well as LAN servers and switches.

All of these cost the community money and we therefore need to find ways to fund them.

We have three ways for members to help meet the community's ongoing costs and contingency plans.

    Supporting Member (Annual Subscription)

We have a voluntary, low cost annual subscription model that allows us to provide our subscribers with the following benefits:

    • Supporting Member Award
    • Forum avatar
    • Forum signature
    • Increased PM storage
    • Reduced LAN attendance fee
    • Gallery upload access
    • Free @deadmen.co.uk email address with 1GB mailbox

To subscribe simply click the 'User CP' link on the forum menu and, under 'Miscellaneous' on the left hand menu, select 'Paid Subscriptions'. Or simply click this link. You will require a PayPal account to complete this transaction. Your 'Supporting Member' badge will be automatically added to your profile but this can take up to one hour to appear. You will be automatically reminded when your subscription is about to expire.

    LAN Attendance

We charge everyone who attends one of our LANs a fee. This fee is reduced for attendees who are also subscribers.

We will ensure that the community is made aware of all income and expenditure. To this end we will post this information in open forum at regular intervals.

A Detailed Biblical History according to the Book of id

    The Old Testament

In the very beginning, before life itself and time began, a cold, dark world with fluffy white clouds was created by the lord id. On this world did id place a lush green sanctuary known as Eden. And in this oasis did id place DogMeat and Stryker as his bitches. It was a time known to most as 3 B.C. (Before Counter-strike) or to some others as 1996.

But DogMeat and Stryker became troublesome and tired of the lushness, so explored their wholesome world in search of adventure. And verily did they discover a thing called the internet. The gracious lord id saw their discomfort and taking a sector from his own hard disk drive did create a spawn program. id planted the spawn program in the garden and gushed forth much fertilizer onto it and nourished it with multiplayer options. Two seeds sprouted and were nurtured well. And the seeds grew and became known as Quake and Quake2 of the house of id software.

After the untimely death of Quake, the younger Quake2 grew and prospered and went out into the valley of the night and put it around a bit, causing many paternity suits. But the house of Quake2 grew stronger with the number of his offspring. Then Quake2's youngest child, known as Quake2 Action ...

A Virgin's Guide to 'The LAN'
(and kind of a post LAN report for those people who have never been to one!)

The dMw LAN is one of the corner stones of this community. It a great chance to put names to faces, meet members you don’t know and have a bloody good laugh and most importantly play some games and sometimes win some prizes.

In the Spring and the Autumn up to 44 of our members invades a hotel in March, near Peterborough.
There is a general outline for the weekend but it can change a little but here is the outline.

Arrive, check in, and set up your machine, more people will be arriving and so you can help or slink off to the bar. The most important action is to put your name down for which competitions you wish to play in.

Friday night is steak night, the Hotel orders in some great steaks and we all sit down for a great meal. It a really good place to catch up or meet people not attended a LAN before. A very social activity which sets you up for the rest of the weekend. Then back to a bit of gaming then bed. Or not the room will be open until the last one leaves and the room is locked when the last one does.

Breakfast and the competitions which usually start off at 11 am so make sure you sat ready for some gaming. We usually run about 4 or 5 competitions though out the day. There is also a prize giving ceremony and a auction.

After the competitions most people get some more games running, we have a servers on site so we can run any supported games, but the network can handle people setting up their own games on their machines. Play as much as you like or chill out in the bar it really up to you.

Up breakfast and a few more rounds of a couple of games, then pack up and make your way home with that tired but happy feeling you get of a great weekend.

One of our members wrote a Virgins Guide to “The LAN” it really gives a good idea of what to expect, the games may have changed but rest hasn’t.

You can find that guide here:

We hope you to see you at one soon!
