Those who perform critical roles deserve support, we wouldn't want you turning up at conference to negotiate an alliance in a Reclaimer, so we find your something more suitable to fly. Or take a Sparko Uber.

I personally would love to see dMw establish as a reliable and friendly org keeping the basics of our original vision in tact. Trade, commerce, exploration and working as a team to our partners.
I think that last sentence you can take as read, hence also our involvement with PACT alliance and its member and whose meetings I still regularly attend.

One of the challenges is that it is still alpha and there is a risk people burn out by spending time in a game that might have you reset regularly (Sith's multiple resets as an example). There are lots of things to due, but if you do them too often due to resets or lack of persistence then they are no longer fun!

I think it is great that we have a team of dMw people flying in the 'verse and trying out alpha, but I also suspect that most of the admins involved in the game are waiting for something a little more persistent than it is right now - after all there will be plenty of time between now and actual launch to understand the game and get people more interested. I personally also have a slight problem in that my system simply cannot run SC in any playable fashion, so you'll not see me online in SC until I have done my major system refresh (which needs to wait for the new RTX cards in September I expect as I'm beginning to think RDNA2 will not be quite as good as team red had hoped). Budget is set aside and I am drooling to try the game out, but it won't be until a new mobo/RAM/CPU and graphics card are sat inside my watercooled box!

See you in the 'verse after the summer.

Everything you mention is understandable. I have slightly different optinions but mostly the same.

Can you share some insight to the PACT meetings and their approach? Also given you are not actually playing, I propose you consider nominating another dMw Community Admin to also join the PACT Council so they can relate better to the game. Rogue, Sith and Sparko are are all regulars.

As the Industry Director focused on making dMw economically viable, I have this opinion....

Background: It has been stated that aUEC, guns, ship parts, clothing, hand weapons are all now persistent through to release with ships also meant to be persistent but not 100% reliable (so don't cry if you lose your 600i at 3.10, just don't buy a 10mill ship).

This means as an org we can be grinding for aUEC. We can transfer aUEC between players officially in 3.10. My vision for our Industry approach is that players in our Org should never be without the ship they need to fullfill their role. Not all players can pledge for a ship where their best skills are utilised (or they may want to diversify), they may not have the time to grind for aUEC (or UEC) which is why as group buying ships for the Org is beneficial. It also means that a few people doing most of the grinding is not required as most people can do a little to help and that amounts to a lot as a team.

New players can be handed down ships to get familiar with when they start playing the game and that way we get more engagement, capable pilots and a richer expereince (and more aUEC overall).

This is even before we start with salvage!

I repeat my offer, anyone playing or considering playing, I can fund their first few hundred K of aUEC to help get you on the road.

As for this, I have never had to reset my character, it is not recommended by CIG, patience is important with an Alpha. Nobody should even consider this as an option if they want to keep their assets.

I've added an Aegis Vanguard Hoplite, Aopoa Nox, Origin 85X Limited, MISC Prospector, Trumbrill Cyclone, upgrades for my Medium Figher and tanked out my Caterpillar for trade run safety. Never have I lost an asset other than a few guns, armour when on foot after dying in a fight. I have 6mill aUEC and make 170K aUEC per trade run. I won't be resetting and risking all this. If I lose some on upgrade, well that's my problem but I've had enough fun getting to this stage that it is worth a few losses.

As far as your comment about burning out and longevity is concerned, this is where I switch on the sarcasm button. With our communicty average engagement hours at about 2 per game (excl. CS, WoW, Overwatch, Ark and a few others) I really don't want our members to use up their 2 hours of expsoure, tollerence too fast, but I very much hope that all the pledging and investment in SC lead to people being a bit more commited and trying harder than they normally do.
    Cheers, Bert

I'd like to know more about PACT stuff. I found the old forum posts but I haven't found anything recent. So they have a joint discord server for members?

You can find out more about PACT here: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/orgs/PACTINIT. I can't share all of the detail of the meetings as aspects of the discussions are private (eg membership, shared intel etc), but we continue to discuss how we can work together in game now and in the future as it allows. Within the org we have a number of people who do play a lot, so even though I personally do not play at the moment, their input guides us as to what is currently possible or not possible. At the moment the general feeling is that it is too early to try too much more than dipping your toe into the verse waters. Most Orgs are biding their time, mostly following development, but not active in-game except for a few dedicated testers. As the game goes live then my personal role with PACT would be more of an ambassador to make sure that communication channels etc remain open, problems dealt with etc. However in a live game, operational links would then be developed.

It's brilliant that the alpha has generated so much passion though and this is seriously encouraging for the future of the game. Maybe if they announced that aUEC would not be reset when it goes beta then it would encourage a few more to engage! If I had a system that could play SC then I'd be in and trying it, but the emphasis would be on 'trying it'. I would not be investing time into it at the same rate as if it were in late beta or had gone gold. I'll join you in the verse when I can, September is not far off (I'm hoping that a nice gfx card upgrade should be available by then)

Re the resets, I'm glad to hear you have never had a problem, but this has not been Sith's experience. You'd have to ask him if it was due to a lack of patience - I have this mental picture of Sith mashing the reset button!

Thanks for the link TL, looking at the orgs listed some have websites and discord links. I'll perhaps visit them and see if there are any active pioneers

An aside, fair play to TL for keeping up with the PACT meetings considering you're not able to actively play. Looking forward to seeing you all in the verse.

Interesting that Black Widow Company were part of this. My friend from work is an officer in that one, 6000 members. Serious resources.

It would be interesting to discover what benefits the smaller Orgs in PACT are getting out of it right now. I read that Gallog are paying smaller Orgs good money for Escort duty whilst trading big money. I don't know how I'd feel about being reduced to support for the bigger Orgs.

And that's why PACT suited us. PACT has some huge member orgs, but within the Council the DMW org has the same value as BWC, or SUN, or TA etc. One org, one vote and a sharing of information. The discussions I have been in on have been very frank and honest. Currently we are reviewing an application for a not dissimilar sized org to us for example, but we have also declined some big ones, etc.

The PACT focus has always been on attitude and approach, not on numbers. When we were interviewed for membership (Oldbloke and I) these were the types of issues discussed and after discussion back at DMW we agreed that this was what we were after as an org, something that would allow us to positively contribute where we can, to collaborate where we can and to benefit from some serious friends. We have great hopes for our PACT friendships in the longterm.

It seems really exciting, thanks TL. Is there a schedule covering when they intend taking more direct action? Or even better is there a way for us to collaborate with other member Orgs during the Alpha. Iy would be nice take advantage of our membership if others are in game already as well.
